Delicious Food ~ Maui ~ March '08

If we do anything in Hawaii when we go, it's EAT! We love to try all of the local restaurants, eat the fresh fish "catch of the day", and of course just absolutely pig out. We'll be sitting at lunch while planning our meal for dinner.

The first picture was an awesome experience as we ate at Leilani's on the Beach, which is in Whaler's Village on Kaanapali Beach. They sat us at this table overlooking the ocean right as the sun was setting. One thing about Kaanapali Beach on Maui is that it has the MOST magnificent sunsets. And we sat and watched the tour boats coming in for the day and dock. It was really nice. That night we ate fresh swordfish, opakpaka, and ono. So delicious, this fish would just melt in your mouth.

The second picture is the famed Hula Pie! Everyone knows about this and it's delicious!!!! Macadamia Nut Ice Cream, drizzled with lots of chocolate syrup, then covered with nuts. Yum....you can't go to Hawaii and not experience Hula Pie atleast once in your life.

The third picture is at a place called The Cool Cat Cafe. This was our newest find on Maui. It is located at the Lahaina Harbor. We ate there following one of our boat expeditions. They have really delicious hamburgers (HUGE) and onion rings and ginormous Root Beer Floats! We're really big hamburger lovers and so we were excited to find this place and add it to our "places to eat" list. We ate there again later in the week.

The fourth picture is at Paia Fish Market in the little teeny town of Paia. It is this total hole in the wall place and there is barely any places to sit, especially at the lunch rush hour, trust us. But they have the most delicious Mahi Fish and Chips. Oh, they're melting in my mouth right now. And their coleslaw is the best I have ever had. So good. We stumbled across this town one day when we were driving towards Hana on the north shore of Maui. There is this really quaint antique store right next to it and I had hopped out of the car to go and check it out when I walked by this place, took one sniff and then peeked my head inside to see someone's fish and chips. Oh man oh man...I knew we had to eat there. And Mike had been searching for a great fish and chips place. We definitely found it. We ate there for lunch right before we came home also.

The last picture is at one of our favorite restaurants on Maui, Hula Grill. Wow! Right on the ocean overlooking Kaanapali Beach. The views and sunsets are completely over the top and the food is delicious!!! The girls are standing at the beach entrance to the restaurant. We sat about 3 feet away from this sign overlooking the ocean. Awesome!
